Renee Chaffin, who is on the staff of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, was honored this week for her 16 years of service as secretary of the Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers.

Chaffin, who is retiring from the position, has been secretary of the organization more than half of its existence.Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers Inc. was founded in August, 1981.Melinda Mican of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division will be the new secretary.
A seven-person board oversees the organization, which offers rewards for tips on crime in Fort Bend County. All board members and those who help the program are volunteers.
Leslie Woods is chairman and president of the organization, and Major Jerry Clements and Lt. Mike Geary of the Sheriff’s Office are coordinators.
