Katy ISD Teacher Opens Heart to Youths

Carrie Conn is an educator, but she says it’s the children she serves, medically fragile with multiple disabilities, who often teach her.

“Those of us who have the opportunity to work with children with disabilities, or their families and friends, we know these children are little angels,” the Bear Creek-area resident said. “They’re very innocent, and they have so much to teach.”

Conn says she cherishes each of the junior and senior high school students she works with at Cinco Ranch High School, along with the youths her nonprofit organization, Carrie’s Heart, serves in Mexico.

    Now this is what being a teacher is all about. This case is truly outstanding and the truth be told above and beyond even my expectations for what she is doing away from Katy.

    However her commitment to students and her mission within Katy ISD is what I see happening time and time again across this district. We have very few 8 to 5 teachers. I don’t know one, but there must be a few out there otherwise why would we be talking about 3% raises.

    Anyway, hats off and congratulations to one find teacher, a fine human being, and someone we should all pattern our lives after as we all work hard to improve things for all our kids.
