Katy VFW Post to Commemorate Korean Cease Fire with Observance Today

Katy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9182 will commemorate the 59th anniversary of the signing of the Korean War Armistice Agreement in special ceremonies this morning.

The observance of the cease fire will take place at 10 a.m. at the VFW Veterans Memorial Museum at 6206 George Bush Dr. in Katy.

The post will host a presentation led by several veterans who severed during the Korean War.

Korean veterans taking part in the ceremony include Charlie White, Pat Adams, Louis Mehr, David Nixon, John Webster, E.C. King and Todd Spiller. They will briefly share highlights of their experiences and memories of the war fought on the Korean Peninsula.

The post also plans to have one of its members share what it is like today at the Panmunjom, where the agreement was signed 59 years ago, on July 27, 1953.

The public is invited to attend the observance.
