HCC’s Hodges Appointed to Genesys Works Houston Board of Director

Leaders at Genesys Works Houston have announced the appointment of Dr. Zachary Hodges of Houston Community College to the board of directors.

The appointment marked the beginning of a relationship between HCC and Genesys Works, a rapidly growing institution that is gaining national recognition for the unique way it bridges education and business, dramatically changing young people’s lives as a result.

“We are very fortunate to have Dr. Hodges on our board of directors,” said Dan Wampler, executive director for Genesys Works Houston. “His commitment to the education community in Houston is unrivaled and our organization will benefit enormously from his professional insight and bold thinking. With more than 41 years dedicated to service in education, Genesys Works will benefit from his past experience and futuristic thinking.”

Hodges currently serves as president of Houston Community College’s Spring Branch Campus. In his 18 years as president, Hodges’ commitment to partner with diverse stakeholders has leveraged the college as a catalyst for economic and community development in West Houston.

“I am honored and excited to join the Board for Genesys Works. I look forward to working with the Board, staff and high school students participating in Genesys Works to continue the growth of the organization,” Hodges said.

Hodges’ appointment came at a pivotal time for the Genesys Works organization. Forbes Magazine recently named Genesys Works as one of the top 30 organizations “tackling some of the world’s most intractable problems.”

Genesys Works is pioneering the way businesses, philanthropy and education come together to provide meaningful solutions for high school students looking to attain higher education, better careers and break the cycle of poverty.

With locations in Houston, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Chicago, Genesys Works has helped to provide hundreds of low-income students with meaningful internships at Fortune 500.
