Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center has announced open auditions for its upcoming production of “The Fantasticks.”
The auditions will be held Aug. 7 – 8 at KVPAC, 2501 S. Mason Road.
Each audition period will be 30 minutes in length.
According to an announcement from KVPAC, there will be eight roles open, including parts for both male and female singers and actors.
Roles in the classic musical include El Gallo (the narrator/bandit), Matt (the boy), Luisa (the girl), Hucklebee (the boy’s father), Bellomy (the girl’s father), Henry (the old actor), Mortimer (the man who dies) and the mute (who also acts the part of the wall).
The production’s story line is about two neighboring fathers who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud.
Anyone interested in auditioning should prepare a short monologue not exceeding three minutes and 16 bars of a song to demonstrate their vocal range. Those auditioning are also encouraged to bring a headshot and resume.
All participants must be at least 17 years of age.
