Flash Flood Warning Issued for Katy Area

BREAKING NEWS

The National Weather service has issued a flash flood warning for the Katy area until 7:45 a.m.

The warning is in effect for extreme northwestern Fort Bend County, southern Waller County, southeastern Austin County, extreme southwestern Montgomery County and extreme northeastern Colorado County.

Just before 6 a.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the Katy area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Rainfall totals between 1 and 3 inches has fallen in the area since 4 a.m. Additionally, part of the area have received 2 – 4 inches of rain yesterday and another 1 – 3 inches of rain will be possible this morning.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Katy, Brookshire, Pattison, San Felipe, Sealy, Jersey Village and Tomball.

Motorists are warned to no drive into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
