Skeeters to Present ‘Military Feats of Strength,’ Music, Fireworks at Tonight’s Game

The Fourth of July may be over but the celebrations continue as Fort Bend County’s new professional baseball team presents a special tribute to America and her Armed Forces during tonight’s game.

During this evening’s game between the Sugar Land Skeeters and the Bridgeport Bluefish, the Skeeters will feature a special Armed Forces competition, live music and a fireworks display following the game.

Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Before the game, some 400 area military families have been invited to a special gathering in Constellation Field’s Performance Mazda Picnic Plaza.  At game time, a wounded warrior will throw out the first pitch.

Between innings, “Military Feats of Strength” will take place between teams of Armed Forces members. The competition will include a tug-of-war, push-ups and military trivia.

The events are being presented by the Skeeters in conjunction with the US Family Health Plan, which has connected local military families with their healthcare benefits for more than 30 years through an agreement between the Department of Defense and not-for-profit CHRISTUS Health of Houston.

After the game, all those in attendance will be treated to a patriotic performance of the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, followed by a fireworks spectacular.

Tickets to tonight’s game are still available and can be purchases by calling the Skeeters box office at 281-241-HITS (4487) or online at www.sugarlandskeeters.com.

Constellation Field is located at 1 Stadium Drive in Sugar Land, across from Sugar Land Regional Airport.
