A Katy-area man is in the Fort Bend County Jail on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Shortly before 5 p.m. last Thursday, Fort Bend County sheriff’s deputies learned that a pre-teen girl had told her mother about an aggravated sexual assault that occurred the previous day.
The victim’s mother the reported the assault to authorities.
After receiving the report of the incident, deputies went to an undisclosed rural location to locate the suspect. The suspect, Jason Ernstes, told deputies he was going to kill himself.
Deputies negotiated with the man and, following a stand-off, talked Ernstes into surrendering without harming himself. He was then taken into custody and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.
Deputies have not released details of the assault. The name of the victim is being withheld to protect her privacy.
Ernstes remains in the custody under a $100,000 bond.
