What was first thought to be a traffic problem early Friday morning turned into a shooting investigation for Fort Bend County sheriff’s deputies.
Officers were called to the area of Ellerbe Spring Lane and Winding Glen Drive in the Cinco Ranch Southwest area just before 1:30 a.m. for a reported traffic complaint.
They were then called to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital for a reported shooting victim.
Deputies quickly found the two incidents were related.
According to the male victim, whose name was not released, he was shot by an unknown male after arriving at a private party at a residence on Ellerbe Spring Lane. The victim said he had just arrived with three other people, and while they were getting out of their vehicle, they spotted a man with a handgun.
Before the trio could leave, at least two gunshots were fired, one of which hit the victim in the right hand.
The victim was treated for the non-life threatening injury and released.
No possible motive in the shooting, nor a description of the suspect has been released.
Deputies are continuing the investigation.
