The Katy ISD Board of Trustees has approved an interlocal agreement with Harris County that will pave the way – literally – for the construction of a new hike and bike trail adjacent to Pattison Elementary School.
Trustees approved the pact during this week’s board meeting.
Under terms of the agreement, Harris County will built an eight-foot-wide concrete hike and bike trail along the northwest property of the Pattison campus.
The county will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the trail, as well as any amenities constructed along the trail path. The school district will be responsible for the maintenance of the easement on which the trail will be located.
The trail, which will connect with an existing trail, will be available for public use; however, a fence will maintain separation of the school’s playground from the trail.
Completion of the trail is expected by December of this year.
