The City of Fulshear is one step closer to selecting a contractor to operate the water and wastewater systems in that city.
During this week’s city council meeting, council members authorized city staff to begin negotiations with Severn Trent Environmental.
Should those negotiations produce terms acceptable to both the company and the city, a contract will be brought back to city council for final approval.
The city had previously solicited proposals from firms interested in providing water and wastewater services for the city.
After reviewing the three proposals submitted, Fulshear’s consulting engineer David Leyendecker recommended Severn Trent.
Leyendecker said the Severn Trent proposal appeared to be the most advantageous to the city; however, he stressed all three companies submitting proposals were well-qualified. He also said if a final contract could not be negotiated with Severn Trent, the city could then begin negotiating with one of the other firms.
“I would recommend we begin negotiations with ST Environmental. If we can’t reach an agreement with them, we can move on to the second and then the third,” Leyendecker told the council.
Council voted unanimously to have city staff begin negotiating with Severn Trent Environmental.
Fulshear is a city that is preparing for growth and doing things to support such growth. I am glad to see a city move forward for the good of all its citizens not just the few at the top.
