Texas Renaissance Festival Treating Fans to Roller Derby Appreciation Night

What goes better together than medieval lords and ladies and roller derby, right?

There is no doubt the Texas Renaissance Festival, the nation’s largest and most acclaimed festival of its kind, has one of the most devoted fan bases around, as do the girls of roller derby.

The lords and ladies of the festival are showing their gratitude to their devoted fans by hosting a fan appreciation night with the Northside Fury Roller Derby.

The special event will take place from 6 – 11 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, at Champions Roller World in Spring.

From those who simply attend the Texas Renaissance Festival each year, to die-hards who appear at every event year-round in full 16th Century regalia, fans are the life source to the festival and what make it fun each year. That is why the festival’s king and queen would like to personally thank them for all of their support over the years.

All fans are encouraged to interact and snap photos with the characters at the roller derby event and post them on the Renaissance Festival’s Facebook Twitter page. Fans that upload their photos will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win two free festival tickets and a dinner at the King’s Feast during the upcoming 2012 season.

Northside Fury Roller Derby League is a nonprofit women’s flat-track roller derby team. They also participate in the community through volunteer work and fundraising.

Tickets for the Renaissance Festival fan appreciation event are $10; children get in free. To purchase tickets, go to www.brownpapertickets.com/event/248811.

Those attending are encouraged to BYOB and chair. The event is kid- and wheelchair-friendly.

There will be a special section for Texas Renaissance Festival fans.
