Excessive speed appears to be a factor in the death of a Katy man in a Houston traffic crash late Friday.
According to Houston police, Marcus Guerrero-Bacon of Katy died when the car he was driving went out of control and flipped over several times around 11:40 p.m. last Friday night.
The accident occurred at the 610 West Loop Service Road and Hempstead Highway.
Investigators said Guerrero-Bacon was driving a silver Nissan Maxima at a high rate of speed when he failed to make a turn where the road dead ended, ran over train tracks and flipped several times. The vehicle was mangled beyond recognition.
Guerrero-Bacon, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police the car was driving in excess of 90 mph when it failed to negotiate the turn in the road.
Police had to warn oncoming train traffic of the wreckage on the tracks until the investigation could be completed.
Police said there was no evidence Guerrero-Bacon was intoxicated.
