The Mayde Creek High School yearbook staff has been honored for yearbook design and coverage by Dallas-based Balfour Yearbooks.

MAYDE CREEK HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK STAFF
In recognition of the accomplishment, the Mayde Creek yearbook is being featured in the 26th edition of “Yearbook Yearbook.”
The school’s yearbook advisory is Shetye Cypher.
Judi Coolidge, education specialist for Balfour said good yearbooks should capture the history of the school for that year in words and pictures. She also said Mayde Creek’s yearbook “isn’t just good; it’s great.”
“It relates stories that the students obviously wanted to share. Those stories, told through words and photographs, evoke an experience in the readers, taking them back to a game, a dance or a rehearsal,” Cypher said. “It’s a magical experience. It was magical when the book came out and it will retain the magic 50 years from now. Your staff’s commitment to creating a yearbook that is both meaningful and memorable has made it one of the best in the nation.”
Yearbooks published by Balfour for the 2011 school year were evaluated in one or more of the areas of theme development, layout design, photo content, secondary packages and cover design. For their achievement, Balfour features roughly three percent of yearbook staffs in “Yearbook Yearbook.”
Balfour’s Jeff Moffitt said the Mayde Creek yearbook being featured in “Yearbook Yearbook” goes beyond just an honor.
“This annual publication chronicles a history of what staffs do to tell their students’ stories and record the events of the year. Yearbook staffs across the country use ‘Yearbook Yearbook’ as a reference tool,” Moffitt said. “They look at the books featured in it for inspiration – creative ideas, cool techniques and new trends. Every time I open up ‘Yearbook Yearbook,’ I see something I hadn’t noticed before and get an idea. This is an inspirational piece that keeps on giving.

Awesome! What an accomplishment. Way to go MCHS!
