How sad. This was the 2nd reported incident within a year and she is “cleared”… Shame on the school board.

  2. Whats up says:

Disturbing video especially since the DA is moving ahead with the case. I assume this means the action went not only beyond school policy but state law as well.

The principal is supposed to be in charge and the buck stops there. I guess the powers that be felt she was the best person to be promoted. Who takes over now?

  3. katymom says:

Next principal of Exley is Juli Noeldner from Mayde Creek Elem.

  4. Whattheheck says:

The story says she applied for the job, but her email to the families said this!

    “Exley Families
I have some exciting news to share! Mr. Frailey has given me the honor of opening the new Seven Lakes Jr. High School in August of 2012! I am honored and extremely excited. Exley has been such a wonderful place to work and I will miss it greatly. Thank you all for the warm welcome and terrific support that you have given me during my stay here.

Please know that I will be here for the majority of the second semester of this school year and you can expect business to go on as usual. I am 110% committed to taking care of our students and their education. You can rest assurred that Exley will not miss a beat. The teachers and staff here are a group of extremely committed professionals who love your children and that is what makes Exley a great school.
I won’t say farewell quite yet, but I did want to let you know what lays ahead.

    Respectfully yours,
    Imelda Medrano”

Not to mention that at both the staff and PTA board meetings prior to the email it was stated she was “honored to have been asked”…..doesn’t sound like to me she applied for anything.

“Shame on the school board” might be in order but the real responsibility for the selection rests with Alton Frailey. He makes his selection and forwards it to the BOT with his recommendation that the name be approved for all promotions and reassignments be accepted “as is.”

You can ask a BOT member, but I seriously doubt there was any attachment to the recommendation sheet or disclaimer, etc. They were asked to make a straight up or down vote on the entire list of persons selected for multiple campuses.

Maybe they should do a little checking themselves, but let’s be practical, they don’t have the time to “run” the district, that is left up to Frailey.

  6. jhill0224 says:

I don’t call being here two months out of the 5 months this second half of the year as being here “a majority” of the second semester.

  7. katymom says:

She won’t be at Exley for April and May. She is done at Exley in March. So, she will be at Exley for a “majority” of the second semester.

  8. Old Katy Guy says:

Who was the Principal of record when these actions took place? Ms.Medrano was of course. Who was the teacher of record?? Who was the special ed diagnostician for this student? Where was special ed guru Sandy Baeker in this debacle?

The aids wil ltake the blame for this and Medrano gets a promotion. Where did she come from? Spring Branch? Another one of Fraleys lackeys?

It is not right that Fraley brought with him his cohorts from other districts to queer up our good district. We have great HOMEGROWN people who should have gotten the promotion instead of Medrano.

  9. Katy Homeowner says:

I find it funny that when ever there is some issues going on at KISD we never hear from that chump Wayne Dolcefino lol Just because his kid attends Bonnie Holland doesn’t mean he should ignore the issues in his backyard, I’ve seen him do stories on other districts for less problems than what’s going on at KISD.

Isn’t a Principal responsible for what happens at their school? Medrano should be held responsible for the MANY problems that have occurred at Exley under her leadership (or l should say lack of leadership). Take a look beyond the autrocities against helpless children and the following coverup that was reported by the media and she is guilty of attempting….also look at the staff turnover rate, the lack of action following a horrific playground accident, other criminal charges against her direct subordinate (stealing cash) in incidents not associated with the autistic children but also documented by the media….for this and much more, just look at the lnumerous etters and commentsin reply to other Exley news articles that have arisen since Medrano became the “leader” at Exley. There is some kind of strange relationship between Medrano and Supt Fraliey. Otherwise anyone with half a brain would have fired her months ago. Please help protect our Katy children – contacty your elected school board members and ask them to do the right thing – get rid of Medrano today

Following excerpt from other media report…..Principal Imelda Medrano promised answers, but took a month and a half to tell William’s parents their child’s bruises were caused by a chair during a 20-minute struggle with his teacher who was attempting to stop William from biting himself.

Principal Medrano claimed further that she found “no evidence of abuse or improper restraint.”

The inquiry could have ended there, but the Sullivans dug deeper and discovered this: a letter which they provided to FOX 26 as solid proof that Katy ISD was involved in a cover-up.

Dated 7 days after William was hurt, the letter reprimands the twin’s special ed teacher for failing to report the physical struggle to the Sullivans as required by law.

More critically, the letter clearly states “it is evident that the manner in which you conducted the behavior instruction resulted in injury to this student.”

The letters author was Exley principal Imelda Medrano, the same campus leader who would insist a month later that William Sullivan suffered no abuse or improper restraint.

“They covered it up and they lied. They have been lying from the very beginning,” insisted Lea. “It is a rude awakening that the people you trust with your children you can’t trust. It’s not there anymore; it’s not ever going to be there.” You can contact school board members thru the below link:

In Katy, you can be a lousy principal or head coach and you can be sure to be promoted or given a job that they create just for that lousy person. If we could get rid of all those jobs we might could keep good teachers and para’s AND bring back lunch monitors and have enough custodians.
