City Appoints Committee To Evaluate Social Service Center Building Proposals

The City of Katy took another major step in the construction of a new social service center by appointing a special design build selection committee to oversee the construction process.

The committee will evaluate qualifications of firms interested in designing and building the facility, and then recommend to city council which firm should ultimately be selected.

Members appointed to the six-member committee include Missy Bunch, Jim Cook, Peggy Dimmick Bill Drohan, Johnny Nelson and Mayor Pro-Tem Hank Schmidt.

The members of the committee were recommended by Mayor Don Elder, Jr.

The committee will serve “until such time as the design build project has been completed,” according to the ordinance appointing the members.

Along with the committee, council members also appointed City Engineer David Leyendecker to serve as the city’s representative for the duration of the project.

City council approved the appointments on a unanimous vote.
