Gas prices in the Katy area are again flirting with the $2.50 per gallon range after falling three cents in the past week.
As of yesterday, the average price per gallon for regular unleaded was $2.51 at fuel retailers throughout the area.
This compares with a national average that dropped 3.6 cents per gallon in the last week to an average of $2.72 per gallon, according to gasoline price website HoustonGasPrices.com.
Including the drop in gas prices in Katy during the past week, prices yesterday were 7.7 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago. They are 0.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
The national average has decreased 1.2 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 10.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
