Fulshear Library To Host Antique Apron Display Throughout August

APRON COLLECTION ON DISPLAY – This apron will be among the collection of vintage and antique aprons on display at the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Library throughout August.

A collection of vintage and antique aprons will be on display at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library throughout the month of August.

The aprons are from the collection of Ellis Bennett of Waco.

Bennett has been collecting the aprons for many years because of their value as a collector’s item. Some aprons are more utilitarian in style and purpose, while others feature delicate handiwork such as embroidery or lace trims.

The styles, patterns, and materials used also reflect different eras in American history.

Bennett will talk about the background of her collection and explain the history of vintage and antique aprons on Thursday, Aug. 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. She will also show how the aprons reflect many different styles and trends in American culture.

The exhibit may be viewed during regular library hours, and the program is free and open to the public.

For more information, call the branch library at 281-346-1432 or the library’s public information office at 281-341-2677.
