Katy Hooters Girl Takes Third Place At Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant

Susan Murray, a Hooters Girl at the Hooters of Katy, returned home $8,000 richer after placing third runner up at the 14th annual Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant last weekend in Fort Lauderdale.

Murray was selected from among100 Hooters Girl contestants that traveled from as far as Australia to represent the 455 Hooters restaurants around the world.

“The competition gets stronger every year at the pageant,” stated Beth Taylor, Pageant Director. “Katy was well represented with Susan, who caught the judges’ eyes and stood out amongst the competition.”

The contestants received a cumulative score from Hooters photographers and a panel of five celebrity judges.

LeAngela Davis, a Hooters Girl from Columbus, Ohio, took top honors and was crowned Miss Hooters International.

Rachel Mortenson, representing Phoenix was first runner up and received $15,000; Ashleigh Dunn, from Newnan, Ga. took home $10,000 for being second runner up and Janet Layug representing Lakeland, Fla. was the 4th place runner up and received $7,000.

The Hooters Girls that competed in Fort Lauderdale were selected from over 17,000 Hooters Girls by either advancing through local and regional contests or being selected by their management team to represent their market.

Celebrity judges for the pageant included Chelsea Lately’s Chuy Bravo; E! Entertainment host Michael Yo; reality TV series Survivor star and former Hooters Girl Jerri Manthey; rock musician Ryan Cabrera and former member of Pussycat Dolls Ashley Roberts. The show was broadcast live on Spike TV.

Hooters of Katy is located on the Katy Freeway near Mason Road.

    Normally I enjoy reading what you post on this site. It is local, it is timely and often you ask questions of the establishment that the “other guy (gal)” won’t. So it is with great sadness I send this note.

    You publish pictures of club houses, open fields and even provide us with video clips of old men at board meetings and such, but when you have an opportunity to take us to new places with this article, not a picture in sight or ON site.

    Frankly, I am struck with your lack of journalistic follow through. Shame on you Mr. J. P., shame, shame, shame…………

    I am offering you a “redo” and I hope you take full advantage of this opportunity before I lose complete faith in your ability or willingness to take your job more seriously. Now please get to it. please, please, please……
