Fort Bend Seniors Seeking Fan Donations To Keep Older Residents Cool This Summer

To help cope with high summer temperatures, Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels is making a plea to the public to help keep the senior citizens of Fort Bend County cool through the donation of fans.

The organization is asking residents to donate new or gently used oscillating or boxed fans to be provided to area seniors.

Monetary donations are also being accepted.

“Many of our seniors either don’t have air conditioning or are too afraid to turn on the air because of high utility bills,” said Manuela Arroyos, CEO of Fort Bend Seniors. “We are asking the public to help us keep our seniors safe and cool this summer.”

Fan donations can be dropped of at the Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels office located at 1330 Band Road in Rosenberg, just behind the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds off of Highway 36.

Monetary donations can be made online at www.fortbendseniors.org.

A cooling center for seniors who need to stay cool during the day has also been established at the Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels office.  The cooling center will be open Monday-Friday (excluding county holidays) until 4 p.m. through the end of August.
