There will be no new faces on the Katy City Council after only the three current incumbents filed for re-election.
The deadline to qualify for a spot on the ballot was yesterday at 5 p.m.
Incumbent council members Carol Adams, Larry Gore and Mayor Pro-Tem Hank Schmidt all filed for re-election; none drew an opponent.
Schmidt, a former mayor, will serve another term as a councilmember-at-large. Adams will serve a second term representing Ward A while Gore will again represent Ward B.
Under Texas law, the city will now have the option to cancel the scheduled May 8 election since no incumbent drew an opponent.
For that to happen, city council would need to formally approve an ordinance cancelling the election.
