Congressman Ron Paul (R-Lake Jackson) has announced he nominated seven Katy-area young people to attend national military academies this year.

Three of the nominees attend Seven Lakes High School, two go to Cinco Ranch High School and two are Katy High School students.

Three of the nominees have already received an appointment to their respective military academy.

The nominees include Sean Michael Adams, nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy; Matthew Stephen Busick, nominated and appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy; Torin Joseph Chisholm, nominated to both the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and Sung Kun Kim, nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Other nominees are Andrew Albert Nat, nominated and appointed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; Milan Piyush Shah, nominated to both the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and Morgan Layton Tucker, nominated and appointed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Adams, the son of Michael and Virginia Smith, is currently a senior at Katy High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society, academic letterman, National Society of High School Scholars, Academic Honor Roll and Katy Varsity Football Letterman.  He is also a member of the Boy Scouts of America.

Busick is the son of Stephen and Kimber Busick and is attending Seven Lakes High school. At school, Busick is a member of the National Honor Society, class treasurer, serves on the student council, is varsity baseball captain and earned the Battle Award.

Chisholm, the son of Timothy and Belinda Chisholm, is currently a senior at Cinco Ranch High School where he plays varsity ice hockey as a right wing forward.  He is also a certified scuba diver trained in emergency rescues.

Kim is the son of Jae and Mav Kim, currently attending Cinco Ranch High School. He is captain of the varsity tennis team, competes with the academic decathlon team, is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, volunteers for Katy Christian Ministries and Habitat for Humanity

Nat, the son of Andrew Nat, Jr., and Lourdes Nat, is a senior at Seven Lakes High School. He is in the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (National Mathematics Honor Society) and Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica (National Spanish Honor Society).

Shah, the son of Piyush and Swati Shah, is a senior at Seven Lakes High School where he competed in the Academic Decathlon, is co-captain of the swim team and a member of the diving team, as well as varsity male MVP diver

Tucker is the daughter of Kevin and Amy Tucker and is currently a senior at Katy High School. She has participated in varsity softball, junior varsity and varsity swimming, and served as treasurer of the Health Occupations for Students of America.
