Police in a central Louisiana city have arrested two men they say scammed a Katy man out of $19,000 in a phone card scheme.
Officers in Alexandria, La. arrested Abdel J. Yousef, 26, of the New Orleans suburb or Metairie and Saed Mousa Yousef, 31, of the Shreveport suburb of Bossier City after the two reportedly paid a Katy man $19.000 with fake cashier’s checks in payment for calling cards.
According to police reports, the victim, whose name is not being released by police, met the two Louisiana men at an Alexandria McDonald’s restaurant last August to sell them the international telephone cards.
The victim is in the business of selling the calling cards, according to authorities
The Yousefs paid with a cashier’s check. The victim discovered the check was a fake when he attempted to verify it with a bank after returning to Katy.
The Yousefs were both charged by Alexandria Police with theft more than $500.
