Forbes magazine has named Fort Bend County number one is the nation for “Best Places To Get Ahead.”
The list was compiled looking at counties where the number of jobs had grown the most between the second quarter of 2007 and the second quarter of 2009.
The magazine also considered counties with the highest income growth using median household income growth between 2007 and 2008.
The study was limited to counties where the median household income was $75,000 per year or higher.
According to Forbes, Fort Bend incomes have grown by 10 percent between 2007 and 2008, and the county has added 5,913 new jobs since the second quarter of 2007, an increase of 5 percent. Forbes also noted that several companies in Forbes 400 Best Big Companies list are headquartered in Fort Bend, such as Texas Instruments, Baker Hughes and Thermo Fisher.
Last fall, CNN/Money Magazine ranked Fort Bend County sixth on a list of the nation’s counties who experienced the most job growth over the past eight years.
Kansas City Southern and CenterPoint Properties’ recently announced an 880-acre intermodal facility and logistics park just west of Rosenberg, which is expected to create more than 750 jobs. Also, Lufkin Automation recently purchased 6.2 acres in Missouri City with plans to move their headquarters to Fort Bend County.
