The Brookshire City Council will meet tonight to take up, among other items, an ordinance calling that city’s spring election.

The proposed ordinance would call the election for May 8 to vote on three aldermen for city council.

Incumbents whose seats are up for election this year include Mayor Pro-Tem Warren Connor and council members Eric Green and Kim Branch.

The ordinance would also designate city polling places and appoint election judges.

In other action, the council will consider appointing a youth coordinator and possibly take action on an interlocal agreement between the city and the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Employee Benefits pool to provide benefits for municipal employees.

Council members will also consider a request by the Mayde Creek High School Ram Band to use the open area east of the Brookshire Fire Department as a rest stop for its April 10 charity bicycle ride.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the council chambers of Brookshire City Hall.
