A new website which has just launched is designed to become the “eBay for services.”

On MyCubi.com, service providers create a profile page – known as a Cubi – stating what services they have to offer and what area they cover.

Consumers looking to get something done, fill out a quick form saying what they want and when they need it. Their request is then automatically matched up to all the relevant service providers available in their area, who in turn bid against each other for their business.

The advantage of asking several service providers at once offers obvious advantages. The consumer gets to choose their service provider based on several parameters including price, qualifications, experience, previous customer reviews or the time they are available.

Surprisingly, 40 percent of self employed Americans still don’t have a website and as each Cubi is given its own unique address as well as being listed in search engines such as Google, it should provide a much needed web presence for service providers looking to get online.

Each Cubi is placed on its local area map so visitors to the site can see what services are being offered by their neighbors and further afield. If someone needs something done, they may simply ask the nearest person available or else they have the option of sending out a Cubi Call and leaving it open to bidding.

Co-Founder Ryan Trunk said he hopes Cubi will become as essential to a service provider as “having a Facebook account is to a teenager’s social life.”

“Our goal is that in 3-5 years time, practically every service provider will have a Cubi in order to receive local business leads and MyCubi will be the go-to place for those looking to get things done,” Trunk said.

Similar to eBay, on MyCubi.com you can request any type of service, from the traditional services like plumbing to the obscure such as a snake sitter. Also just like eBay where people can both buy and sell goods, with MyCubi.com people not only have the opportunity to acquire services but also promote their own services on the site.

With no sign of permanent work on the horizon, a number of laid-off Americans are creating Cubis in order to find short term work and odd jobs that match their skills.

MyCubi.com is currently available all across America and is currently being offered for free for both consumers and service providers.
