The next meeting of the Fulshear Book Club will take place next Monday, Dec. 21, beginning at noon in the meeting room of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Library.
The book to be discussed is “Truck: A Love Story” written by Michael Perry.
Following the critically-acclaimed success of his memoir, “Population: 485,” Perry wrote this unusual love story involving a 1951 International Harvester pickup truck and the latest “woman of his dreams.” In turns both touching and hilarious, “Truck” is peppered with a colorful cast of characters, including a paraplegic biker and his quadriplegic sidekick, a bartender who will not sell light beer and a vengeful flock of wild turkeys.
Perry’s deadpan recounting of daily life in the small town of New Auburn, Wis. shows that sometimes truth is truly stranger than fiction.
Anyone interested in joining this literary review club is invited to attend and bring a lunch, if desired.
