Fort Bend County has scheduled a series of six workshops, including one in Cinco Ranch and one in Fulshear, to inform the public about FEMA’s new Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map program.
The meetings will take place at various locations throughout the county after the first of the year.
The formal process will include an official “general public review.”
The county will organize and host the meetings to introduce and explain the FEMA adoption process, provide an opportunity for the public to review the maps and learn about the county’s interactive Web tool that is available.
A representative from the National Flood Insurance Program Region VI office is expected to attend the Jan. 5, 6, and 7 meetings. In addition, handouts will be available at all of the meetings, as well as information pertaining to other floodplain related information such as mandatory flood insurance rules, and appeal and protest procedures.
