The Katy Area Economic Development Council and Formation Development Group today announced the opening of a new senior living facility called The Solana at Cinco Ranch.

The facility is located 24001 Cinco Ranch Center Blvd adjacent to LaCenterra.

Katy EDC President and CEO Lance LaCour said the senior living center will help serve a growing part of the population.

“As the baby boomer generation nears retirement, communities such as The Solana position Katy to capture and service the needs of this extremely large and important segment of our society,” LaCour said.

Nick Roccaforte, executive director of The Solana, called the facility “a new model for upscale senior living.”

“The Solana will not only create new jobs in the Katy area, but also gives the Katy area the opportunity to participate in the pioneering of a new model for upscale senior living,” Roccaforte said. “To date, we have filled 30 new positions and anticipate that these numbers will grow.  Katy was chosen for this project because it is a thriving, sophisticated community that fits the demographic for such a monumental project.”

The 183,000 square-foot community offers 126 independent living apartments and 32 assisted living apartments. More than 30 percent are already rented.

Developers said The Solana will provide independent living and is an ideal destination for parents who want to live near their adult children, a growing trend within the facility’s demographic.

Designed by Three Architects of Dallas and StudioSix5 interior design of Austin, the Solana was developed by the Georgia-based Formation Development Group. It is managed by Atlanta-based The Arbor Group.

The four- and two-story community offers 17 different floor plans.

The independent living apartments include one and two bedroom units; one-bedroom plus den and extra half bath; and two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments. All feature walk-in closets, high end finishes and full kitchens with granite countertops.

Many have studios, home offices, balconies, patios, private courtyards, garages and carport options.

Assisting living residents can select from studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with kitchenettes.

All Solana apartments are equipped with a wireless emergency call system, individual climate control, television, phone and data cabling.

Monthly rental starts at $2,795.
