Katy ISD Announces A Host Of New Campus Principals For Upcoming School Year

Twelve Katy Independent School District schools will have new leaders at the helm for the 2009-`10 school year, and 15 campuses will welcome a total of 22 new assistant principals.

 

New principals are Anita Jacobs, Fielder Elementary; Ann Smith, Golbow Elementary; Imelda Medrano, Exley, Juli Noeldner, Mayde Creek Elementary; Jeff Stocks, Beck Jr. High, Elizabeth Kuylen, Cinco Ranch Jr. High, Tory Hill, Mayde Creek Jr. High; Mark McCord, Morton Ranch Jr. High; James Cross, Cinco Ranch High School; Steve Robertson, Katy High School; Cazilda Steele, Mayde Creek High School and Mark Grisdale, Morton Ranch High School.

 

Anita Jacobs came to Katy from Spring Branch ISD, where she has been principal of Sherwood Elementary since 2003. She has taught in both elementary and junior high, in classrooms ranging from pre-kindergarten to seventh grade math. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Stephen F. Austin State University and her master’s from Houston Baptist University.

 

Ann Smith was formerly the assistant principal at Bane Elementary in the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and served as an elementary summer school principal. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Baylor University, a master’s from Prairie View A&M University and is currently completing her doctorate in educational leadership at Sam Houston State University.

 

Imelda Medrano has been an administrator in Houston ISD since 2001, serving as principal of Hogg Middle School and Park Place Elementary, and as dean of instruction at Hamilton Middle School. She has also been a reading consultant and reading program administrator for Houston ISD. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Houston

 

Juli Noeldner, a former assistant principal at Mayde Creek Elementary, has served as principal since last spring when her predecessor, Kerri Finnesand, was tapped to open Stanley Elementary. She has spent her entire career at Mayde Creek, beginning as a first grade teacher and also serving as a K-5 reading specialist. Her bachelor’s degree is from Baylor and her master’s is from the University of Houston Clear Lake.

 

Jeff Stocks has been an administrator at Taylor High School since 2003, serving as assistant principal for instruction in 2008-09 and a grade-level principal from 2003-2008.  He began his teaching career at Taylor in 1986, teaching social studies. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree from the University of Houston.

 

Elizabeth Kuylen has served as principal of Nottingham Country Elementary and opened Exley Elementary in 2004. She has also been an assistant principal at Alexander and Fielder elementaries and McDonald Jr. High, and served as a junior high summer school principal in 1995 and 1997. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and a master’s from the University of Houston.

 

Tory Hill is formerly an instructional assistant principal and grade-level assistant principal at Cinco Ranch High School. He began his career in Katy ISD in 2005 as a social studies teacher at Mayde Creek Jr. High. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern University at Baton Rouge, a master’s from Florida A&M and is working on his doctorate at Texas A&M.

 

Mark McCord comes to Katy from Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, where he was a central student support administrator and formerly principal of Thornton Middle School. He has been principal at Morton Ranch since last spring, when he was appointed to replace Mark Grisdale. McCord earned his bachelor’s degree at Lamar University and his master’s at the University of Houston.

 

James Cross has served as the principal at Beck Jr. High School since 2005, where he had previously been assistant principal. He came to Katy ISD in 2002 from Whiteface, where he was principal of Whiteface Junior/Senior High School.  He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas Tech University.

 

Dr. Steve Robertson began his Katy ISD administrative career as principal of Hayes Elementary and became principal of Cinco Ranch Jr. High in 2005. He also served as an elementary and intermediate school principal in Conroe ISD. He holds bachelor’s degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Houston.

 

Dr. Cazilda Steele, a former instructional assistant principal at Mayde Creek High, was principal at Mayde Creek Jr. High last year. Before coming to Katy, she was administrative principal at Northbook High School in Spring Branch ISD and principal of Waller Jr. High in Waller ISD. She earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate at the University of Houston.

 

Mark Grisdale moved to Morton Ranch High School last spring from his position as principal at Morton Ranch Jr. High. He was the assistant principal for instruction and a grade-level assistant at Cinco Ranch High School. Prior to moving to Katy ISD in 2005, he was dean of instruction at Lamar High School in Houston ISD. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Central Michigan University.

 

In addition to the new principals, the following assistant principal assignments will be in place for the new school year: Nicole Morgan, Cimarron Elementary; Roy Moore, Mayde Creek Elementary; Rebecca Wingfield, Rhoads Elementary; Jessica Nella and Eric Nethery, Beckendorff Jr. High; Kevin Weber, Beck Jr. High; Bill Roberts, Katy Jr. High; Melinda Stone, Mayde Creek Jr. High; Melanie Thomas, McMeans Jr. High; Michael Barstow, Morton Ranch Jr. High; Marybelle Perez, West Memorial Jr. High; Ashly Darnell and Susie Garza, Cardiff Jr. High; Kelly Stroud, WoodCreek Jr. High; Karen Plake, Chad Teague and Antonia Young, Katy High School; Tina Seaman and Jamie Morris, Mayde Creek High School; Lakeisha McGowen, Ryan Labay and Patti Smith, Seven Lakes High School.

 

New administrators at Stanley Elementary, which will open in August, are Kerri Finnesand and Tara Bailey, who previously served as assistant principal at Cimarron Elementary.
