Katy Celebrates Fourth Of July With Host Of Fireworks, Picnics And Festivals

As America prepares to mark its 233rd birthday, Katy residents can celebrate at a variety of events that range from traditional fireworks displays to patriotic observances and rallies against runaway government taxation.

CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE – Katy is set to celebrate the nation’s birthday with fireworks, picnics and festivals.

These are some of the more prominent events planned for the Katy area.

 

City of Katy Fireworks

 

The City of Katy will hold its annual Fourth of July fireworks display at Katy Mills Mall beginning at dark. The event is free and open to the public.

 

The Villagio Town Center Laser Light Show

 

The Villagio Town Center in Cinco Ranch will present a laser light show starting at 8 p.m. There will also be live music by The Echoes, as well as barbecue and family activities beginning at 5 p.m.

 

Art on the Porch

 

ARTreach and the Katy Heritage Society will host its monthly Art on the Porch event at the Katy Heritage Park featuring artwork created by local artists.

 

Katy Heritage Society Bicycle Parade

 

The Katy Heritage Society will host a bike parade at the Katy Heritage Park beginning at 10 a.m. Children ages 3 – 8 are invited to decorate their bicycles in a patriotic theme and take part in the parade. The historic homes in the park will also be open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

 

LaCenterra Big Backyard Barbecue

 

LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch will host a July 4 celebration featuring food prepared by VFW Post 9182, patriotic gift items, live music and family activities, capped by a fireworks display. Food and drinks can also be purchased by LaCenterra restaurants.

 

Katy Tea Party Patriots July 4 Tea Party and Rally

 

The Katy Tea Party Patriots, a grassroots organization opposed to excessive taxation and big government, will hold a multi-county tea party and patriotic rally. The event will feature food, family activities, patriotic speeches and a fireworks display. Residents from Austin, Fort Bend, Harris and Waller counties are invited to attend. The festival site will be at 7801 FM 359, between Pattison and Monaville in Waller County.

 

Katy VFW Post 9182 Auction and Dinner

 

Katy VFW Post 9182 will host an Italian lunch catered by Hasta La Pasta at the VFW post starting at 11 a.m. A live auction will take place at noon. VFW Post 9182 is located at 6206 George Bush Drive, just west of Avenue D.

 

Smith Ranch July 4th Jamboree

 

Smith Ranch will celebrate Independence Day with live music, children’s activities, barbecue, a silent auction, paddle boating, a petting zoo, a Ford Mustang car show and fireworks. Activities begin at 10 a.m. There is a $10 admission for adults, $5 for children ages 12 and under. All proceeds benefit the Smith Ranch Foundation. Smith Ranch is located at 25440 Beckendorff Road.
