Connor was elected by a vote of his fellow council members during Thursday’s special meeting. His term begins immediately.

He replaces former Alderwoman Eva Lemos as mayor pro-tem. Lemos lost her re-election bid to Lyndon Stamps during the May 9 city election.

The mayor pro-tem serves in place of the mayor, including presiding over council meetings, when the mayor is unavailable. Mayor Joey Vaughn made the recommendation that Connor be tapped for the number-two spot on the council.

“It’s been a year and it’s time to select a mayor pro-tem for the City of Brookshire. My recommendation is that we appoint Alderman Warren Connor,” Vaughn told the council.

The vote for Connor was unanimous. Alderwoman Kim Branch was not present for the meeting.
