LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch and the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County will be hosting “Books in Bloom,” a summer book fair and sale 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. May 9.

“Books in Bloom” is a celebration of reading that benefits literacy programs and increases awareness of free public programs available through the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County.

Programs benefiting from book sales include basic literacy, English as a Second Language, GED preparation classes, US Citizenship preparation classes, numerous computer classes, Badges & Books, Baskets and Books, and Job Readiness workshops.

Guests can purchase books, meet visiting authors, have lunch with Mother Goose during the children’s brownbag lunch and story time, gain insight into the world of professional writing and more.

Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center will present dramatic readings from “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak.

Representatives from ARTreach will be onsite with a public art project specially designed for the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County.

The event will take place rain or shine in Heritage Square, LaCenterra’s central courtyard.
