The Fulshear Night Readers’ Guild will meet at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library on Monday, April 27.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.
The book to be discussed is Mary Ann Schaffer’s debut novel, “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.”
The year is 1946 and author Juliet Ashton informs her publisher that she is tired of writing about the aftermath of World War II and would like to move on to fresh topics. An unusual letter from a Guernsey farmer recalling the little-known history of German occupation of the island fascinates Juliet, however, and her interest is piqued with each additional letter she receives from the Guernsey residents recounting their experiences.
Through this series of letters, Juliet realizes the extraordinary power of the human spirit to survive and overcome adversity during extremely difficult times.
The book club is free and open to the public.
