Volunteer Fort Bend is looking for people who are interested in helping local civic and nonprofit organizations. Here are some current needs:
Prepare Tax Forms
Assist low and middle-income people needing help completing their federal tax returns. Participating in a program approved by the Internal Revenue Service, you’ll receive training that will equip you to staff one of the many tax assistance stations opening up at libraries and community centers throughout Fort Bend County during the tax season. This assignment calls for computer-literate volunteers with good interpersonal skills.
Help staff free dental clinic
Professional dentists, dental hygienists, and registered dental assistants, are needed to provide free dental clinic services for low-income residents of Fort Bend County. Your professional expertise will address the dental care needs of the many individuals who are on a waiting list. Weekly or biweekly three-hour shifts are available from 9 a.m. to Noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at a social service organization’s Stafford location.
Brighten the lives of seniors
Delight homebound senior citizens with hot lunchtime meals and some friendly conversation. As a meal delivery volunteer for a United Way agency in Fort Bend County, you’ll be helping low-income seniors remain independent while providing them with much-needed human contact. You’ll pick up the lunches at a designated site near you on your choice of weekdays and deliver them to seniors in the general area.
